LMTC Tours

If you are a Machining student please make sure you take full advantage of this opportunity to see the center and all it has to offer. College Employee Golf Scramble

The Machinist Instructors placed 3rd at the 2009 OWATC Employee golf scramble held August 7, 2009 at the El Monte Golf Course. The team of Jeff Fowler, Bret Holmes, Russ Standford, Mike Jenkins shot a round of 36 ( 1 over par).

NTMA Utah Chapter meeting Aug 6th

We are pleased to host another meeting of the Utah NTMA (National Tooling and Machining Association)August 6th, 2009. Utah Companies are currently trying to establish a Utah chapter and, are working hard to get the necessary number to become a full chapter of NTMA. The Ogden Weber Applied Technology Colleges Machinist program is the only educational institution currently on the team. We as instructors are striving to update our program with the most current industry standards.

The Machinist instructors would just like to remind you that progress is due by 3:00 p.m. on July 31st…Please make sure your STRs are current with the instructors for the most accurate progress. Also Starting this month the 67% minimum standard is in effect and will be managed by the instructors.

We would also like to remind you that the week of August 3 thru 7th there will be no Machining courses taught as it is the In-service week for the instructors and our program courses will start again Aug 10th….

As most of you have seen there has been some changes to the program in the past few days. We as instructors are working hard to support the needs of our employers as well as the students. With this in mind we are hoping that students will be able to maintain our 67% standard of progress. If you need extra help with anything please feel free to contact an instructor.

We have added new certificates to the program. As of July 1, 2009 we are pleased to have 3 certificates of competency for people to obtain. Our Machinist level I is a 900 hr course, Machinist Level II is a 1200hr course, and Machinist Level III is a 1575 hr course. These have replaced our conventional and CNC certificates, but if you were enrolled before July 1st you are on the old OTO’s…if you would like to be on the Level I, II, or III certificates please contact Bret .
