Who attends this career fair?
Last year our career fair brought over 2,300 people on campus. This fair is co-sponsored in partnership with Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College, Department of Workforce Services, and LDS Employment. Attendees include current OWATC students, recent OWATC graduates, people from throughout the community, high school students, and parents of high school students. People who are seeking jobs and people who are employed but are seeking better jobs are all encouraged to attend.

What is the cost?
This event is free to the public.

What time is the career fair?
The fair is from 3:00-7:00 p.m.

Where can I park?
Parking will be available in every lot on campus. Signs will direct you to available parking. Since employers will be in all major buildings you may want to park closest to your area of interest. Click here for a campus map and listing of employers.

Should I bring a resume? What if I need help getting one ready?
Yes, bring your resume as many employers will be accepting them from potential employees. Resume review services will also be available in the Career Center the week before the fair and the evening of the event. The phone number for the Career Center is 801-627-8494 to set up an appointment.

Should I dress up?
Since first impressions are important, look your best. If you are in need of a haircut or a new style you may visit our Cosmetology Salon prior to the event for a professional new look.

Will there be food for attendees?
Cookies and punch are provided for job seekers.

Where should I start?
Registration for prize drawings will be available in all major buildings so you can start at any location and move to other buildings to visit a variety of employers. The Union Building will house employment services and other community resources.

Will I be able to meet with more than one employer?
Yes, but arrive early if you can and allow plenty of time to visit all five program areas.

I don’t know what kind of job I want, will there be Career Counseling?
Yes, visit our Career Center to do career exploration or meet one-on-one with one of our College counselors to determine which program is best for you.

What other services and activities will be available during the fair?
The career center will be open so job seekers can use the computers to apply for jobs online during the fair. There will also be career guidance counseling for any job seekers. In the lecture hall, there will be several short workshops about financial aid and scholarships for OWATC’s training programs. There will also be prize drawings and lively music.

Who attends this career fair?

What is the cost?
There is a nominal charge of $75 for each employer that registers by February 1, 2009. After that date, the cost is $100. There is also a great opportunity to have your company specifically listed in the career fair advertisements and posters for only $200. Please mark this option on the registration form, and submit it before February 1, 2009.

How is this event advertised to the public?
This fair is extensively marketed to ensure that job seekers from throughout the community learn about the career fair. Marketing activities include:

  • Thousands of flyers posted throughout the community, in churches
  • Over 60,000 emails sent to DWS and LDS employment lists
  • Advertisements in the Standard Examiner
  • Community Service Announcements
  • Banners on Washington Blvd.
  • Announcements in the high schools and extra credit given by many high school teachers
  • Post cards mailed to high school students and their parents
  • Announcements and mailers to OWATC students

What time is the career fair?
Set-up is between 12:00 and 3:00 on Tuesday, March 3. The fair is from 3:00-7:00 p.m., and tear-down is from 7:00-8:00 p.m., directly following the fair.

Where is employer check-in?
Employers will be placed by industry type in the OWATC buildings that most closely match the OWATC programs taught in those buildings (e.g., construction companies will be in the construction building). There will be a check-in site in each building so it will not be necessary to go to the Union Building first. Before the career fair, we will notify you of your booth location.

Will tables be provided?
Yes, a table, linen and two chairs will be provided for each booth.  The tables are 8’ long.

Will there be food for employers?
There will be a hospitality room in each building so employers can get a snack and drinks during the fair.

Will there be food for attendees?
Cookies and punch are provided for job seekers.
